Associated Group (AG) was founded by Mr. Z.Z. Ahmed (1910-1989), former Deputy Inspector General of Pakistan Police, in 1965. Today, it is one of Pakistan's premier business houses in the energy sector. Within the energy sector, AG has three lines of business-Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Power Generation and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Our flagship company Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited (JJVL) commenced commercial operations in March, 2005. JJVL is a state-of-the-art LPG Extraction Plant set up at an investment of US $40 million. Exterran (formerly Hanover Compression), a NYSE listed company, provided us a turn key solution to design, build, install and operate the country's largest LPG specific Extraction Plant. In 2006, JJVL became the first Pakistani company to be nominated for the Global Energy Awards by Platts and Businessweek.
JJVL along with AG's two marketing companies, Lub and Mehran, constitute our LPG operations.
In late 2007, AG installed and commissioned its 136 MW Bhikhi Power Plant in District Sheikhupura at an investment of US $80 million. The Plant is a first of its kind in Pakistan based on the Rental Model. It is also the first full-scale Power Plant in the country to be built in a record time of six months.
In 2006, AG was awarded the leasehold rights to Pakistan's only large coal fired Power Plant at Lakhra with a nameplate capacity of 150 MW. AG will rehabilitate the Lakhra Plant, ramping up its production from the present level of 30 MW to a minimum of 102 MW.
AG's Power Division is developing innovative and results-oriented plans to enhance Pakistan's installed electricity capacity.
We are also developing what will be Pakistan's first LNG terminal at Port Qasim, Karachi. Within this year. we intend to bring 400 mmcfd / day
